Almost every useful trip puts you on Al Khail Road, and the Business Bay Crossing Salik gate sits on that route toward Downtown and DIFC. Each pass is AED 6 during peak hours, which run 06:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, and AED 4 the rest of the day. Crossings between 01:00 and 06:00 are free, and the rate is a flat AED 4 all day on Sundays and public holidays.

A normal day, out to Downtown and back, is two passes through that gate, so budget AED 8 to AED 12 depending on timing. If you head toward Sheikh Zayed Road instead, you may also catch the Al Safa gates, which charge on the same schedule. Salik is read automatically as you pass, and we pass the exact amount on to you after the rental. There is no toll markup.

Where the car waits in the community

Parking is one of the easier parts of renting here, which is unusual for Dubai. Hartland apartments come with a designated bay, often two, and the villas have private garages, so the car you rent has a settled home rather than a hunt for a space. Hartland Greens, the cluster of eight-storey buildings and the twin-tower block, has visitor bays managed by Sobha security, and they are complimentary.

Because the bays are assigned, we drop the car at your building entrance and hand it over there, then you move it into your own space. There is no valet layer to work around like you get in many Marina or Downtown towers, so the handover is quick. Outside the gated perimeter, the silver-sticker Zone B street parking is free for permit holders, which is worth knowing if a guest is following you in a second car.

When you return the car, leave it in your bay and we collect it from the same spot. You do not drive it anywhere or wait at a desk.

The car that suits Hartland

For day-to-day Hartland use, getting to Downtown, the schools inside the estate, and the Dubai Mall run that takes around 24 minutes, a compact or mid-size sedan is the sensible pick. Parking is generous, so you are not choosing small to squeeze into a tight bay, but the routes are city roads where a sedan is comfortable and easy on fuel.

Dubai enforces speed and lane rules heavily by camera, especially along Al Khail Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. If a fine lands during your rental, we pass on the exact government amount plus a flat admin fee, and we tell you what it was for. No part of it is guessed at or rounded up.
